IBM Cloud development for IoT applications
The business of IT is changing at a rapid rate, being this industry for long we have seen the constantly changing industry at a very close range. Today is the day and age of cloud-based platforms which work on the pay per use model. Most of the technology giants have set up their own cloud-based infrastructure and can’t help but say that it has made some of our life a tad easier. The biggest benefits of such platforms are such that we can set up full-fledged applications under any domain or technology with just a few button clicks.
IBM Cloud is one such extremely popular open source cloud platform. It is a platform as a service (PaaS) application developed by IBM. Based on Cloud Foundry, IBM Cloud supports numerous programming languages and has an integrated environment to perform DevOps. The IBM cloud team periodically updates new runtimes and services.
At Ripples IOT we have integrated sensors with IBM Cloud as a core engine to manage some of the IoT industrial monitoring solutions. We have experience in working with popular IBM Cloud services such as Load Balancer, Containers, Cloudant NoSQL and Delivery Pipeline.
While the Load Balancer helps in handling incoming data traffic, Continuous Delivery Pipeline automates the building, testing, and deployment of apps. The Cloudant NoSQL Database runs as an operational data store optimized to handle the high number of concurrent activities required by today’s cloud-native apps. Kafka, MQTT, and SE-COR packaged in an IBM container, captures data from connected devices. A Node-RED instance was deployed for managing the data.
Other runtimes we have worked with:
- Compose for MongoDB
- DASH DB
- Node JS Runtimes
- IBM containers to run Drupal and LAMP applications
- Object Storage
- Load Impact
