Smart buildings, energy management, safety & security
Building Automation System (BAS) involuntary control systems installed in a building such as lighting, security, fire safety, heating, ventilation and air conditioning etc. through a centralized controller. Designing Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) systems are one of the crucial aspects while constructing a building. There are hundreds of components in MEP systems and each of the components can be controlled through BAS.
Building automation convert pneumatic control systems to direct digital control (DDC) system which can, without additional equipment, perform all of the automatic temperature control and energy management functions. For e.g. in heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems commonly known as HVAC contains numerous components such as air handling units, heat pump units, fan coil units, boilers etc. that can be automated and controlled through wireless monitoring sensor based application. BAS systems shall include all hardware, software, equipment, accessories, wiring, piping, relays, sensors, power supplies, and instrumentation required for a complete and operational system.
Here are other few areas where automation solution can be applied in MEP systems
Energy consumption monitoring
Creating an intelligent or smart building can lead to conserving energy and more importantly reducing electrical wastage. Our research team have always come up with innovative concepts such as smart meter, a system that notifies the customer about their total energy consumption including the average energy usage and peak electricity consumption.
Plumbing and water monitoring
In a smart building, we can monitor and thus control water wastage in facilities such as the plumbing and wastewater systems. The water levels in the tank can also be monitored and distributed accordingly with the help of sensor modules.
Security Cameras and image identification
PIR sensor modules can be deployed along with CCTV cameras to detect movements in a certain area. These security cameras can be accessed anywhere from the web with valid credentials.
Smart building and card access
There are various access control systems that can be deployed in a building. One-card access readers like smart ID card, key and magnetic strip identification cards can be integrated into BAS so that the authorities will have every required data on the click of a button.
Fire and smoke alarm system
Integrating fire and smoke alarm systems with building automation systems can result in many economic and operational benefits. Protocols like BACnet are very well suited for integrating fire alarm systems with building automation systems.
Escalators & Elevators
Full-SiC semiconductor modules are used as control device in elevators to reduce heat discharge. Also motion detection sensors can be deployed for keeping the escalators idle when there are no people around.
